Imari Fernandez
Project Lead
Imari Fernandez joined Center for Urban Excellence in 2020. She currently supports college and career projects. Imari’s past work has allowed her to tap into social justice, which is an area she is deeply passionate about. She attends Cal Poly Pomona as a full time student while enjoying her hobbies of making jewelry, crafting, and practicing makeup.

Corinne Fuller
Project Lead
Corinne Fuller joined Center for Urban Excellence in 2020. She currently supports program, presentation and website design. Corinne’s past work on projects helped her explore numerous professional pathways. She attends Spelman College in pursuit of a BA in English along with a Minor in Japanese. In her free time, Corinne enjoys hobbies such as painting, reading, and writing.

Yvonne Beals, MPA

Yvonne is a former Council Member/Mayor, the City of Pittsburg and certified trauma practitioner. She works to promote advocacy for educational needs and school stability for youth in foster care throughout the Bay Area. Yvonne has a public policy and community building background that spans over 20 years. She continues to serve her community through service to various non-profit agencies developing public policy and increasing community awareness that addresses disadvantaged and underrepresented population needs. Yvonne Beals obtained her B.S. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento and received a master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy from California State University, Hayward.

Reina is a certified resilience and mental wellness practitioner, author and the CEO of the Center for Urban Excellence. Her work focuses on digital media literacy, spectrum thinking, and social and economic opportunity development. Reina became a scholar at California State University, East Bay, earning a B.A. in Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, Genders and Sexualities in Communities of Color minor, plus a Master of Arts degree in Communication. Reina uses Afrofuturism, art and education to share her experiences with hope, healing and resilience to advocate for underrepresented groups.
