CUE Tutoring
Free academic support for youth in Solano & Contra Costa Counties (Grades 1–12). Sessions are available virtually (Microsoft Teams) or on campus.
Program Overview
Center for Urban Excellence (CUE), in collaboration with Solano Community College, provides free tutoring to eligible youth. Our tutors support core subjects, homework, and study skills, and coordinate with families and schools to align on goals.
Eligibility
Youth may access CUE tutoring if they meet at least one of the following:
- Earned one or more D or F grades in a core subject
- Demonstrated insufficient standardized or placement test scores
- Has an active IEP or 504 Plan recommending academic support
- Has a probation requirement or court order recommending academic tutoring
- Is enrolled in a CUE workforce or youth leadership program and demonstrates academic need
Waitlist or Denial Conditions
- The requested subject does not have a qualified tutor available
- Current staff availability limits capacity
Referral Procedure
- Parent/Guardian completes the Tutoring Referral Form and the Release of Information (ROI). Prefer a hard copy? Email Yvonne Beals.
- CUE intake (Yvonne) will:
- Complete tutor assignment details
- Collect supporting documents (grades, IEP/504, test scores)
- Match the student with a tutor who fits their needs
- Scheduling: Tutoring appointments are scheduled once all documentation is received.
- Confirmation: Parents/guardians receive a confirmation call and email within 5 days of a completed referral.
